Economics
The central bank delivered one Hike in early 2026 and held rates steady through the rest of the year.
The Federal Reserve concluded 2026 with its policy rate set at 4.0 percent. Throughout most of the year the board left the target range unchanged, after delivering a single increase earlier in the session. The steady stance persisted through the final meetings of October and December.
The only rate Hike of the year occurred before the October meeting, as the board chose not to adjust the target in that session. The October decision left the rate unchanged, confirming that the earlier increase was the sole adjustment. A similar outcome unfolded at the December meeting, where no further change was made.
