None of four new crypto projects hit valuation targets on day one

Metamask, Puffpaw, Opensea and Extended all fell short of their $1B, $300M, $100M and $500M day-one FDV goals.

On Friday, four newly launched crypto projects failed to meet the fully-diluted valuation thresholds that had been cited as benchmarks for day-one performance. The projects, Metamask, Puffpaw, Opensea and Extended, each fell short of their respective targets of $1 billion, $300 million, $100 million and $500 million.

Metamask's valuation remained below the $1 billion mark one day after its launch. Trading activity was limited, and the token price did not experience a sharp rise. Consequently, the project did not achieve the anticipated fully-diluted valuation.

Puffpaw also stayed under its $300 million goal after the first 24 hours. Investor interest appeared restrained, with low transaction volumes reported. The shortfall meant the project did not reach the projected valuation level.

Opensea's fully-diluted valuation stayed beneath $100 million on day one, while Extended failed to exceed $500 million. Both projects showed limited buying pressure and modest price movements.

The collective outcome suggests that new crypto launches in 2026 often struggled to attract large capital quickly. Compared with earlier periods where some tokens surged to high valuations, the 2026 environment appeared more cautious. The results may shape how developers design token economics and approach initial fundraising.

Analysis

The failure of these four projects to hit high day-one valuations indicates a more restrained capital environment for crypto launches in 2026. As a result, immediate large-scale funding is no longer a reliable indicator of a project's potential.

For developers, the modest initial valuations may complicate early fundraising and delay roadmap execution. Investors, on the other hand, may view lower valuations as an opportunity to acquire tokens at reduced prices, but also as a signal of heightened risk. Project teams may need to adjust token distribution strategies to align with slower capital inflows.

Nevertheless, day-one valuation is only one metric; some tokens have historically gained momentum after an initial lull. The long-term success of Metamask, Puffpaw, Opensea and Extended remains uncertain without data on subsequent trading patterns.
